THE move

hey, sorry, haven't been on for a bit. we are shaking things up at country roads antiques. 3rd building is where the action is at right now!!!! so much action, matter of fact, that i get home, feed the cats, jump into a hot shower, pour some wine, and turn into a pumpkin. that's why no blog.

just wanted to let you know that the huge beadboard cupboard (featured below) has been moved. come check him out! he's got a "full frontal" going on!! when the pic was taken, because of the position, the far away side shot was all i could get. now, he can display just how big and bad and beautiful he really is.

the john deere tractor umbrella has also been relocated. he will have a spot all his own. once again, he will rise above the dust! 3rd building - perched above the back door - longing for some attention.

well, the tendrils are beginning to grow atop my head. till the next time . . . . . . . .

large old yellow plank top farm table

hi: this wonderful find is yellow - yes, yellow - old original paint. he is magnificent!! great old aged pine and heavy as all get out! you will never find another. sporting 6 legs, he stretches 12 ft and 9 inches long and 30 inches wide - a 2 board top - random width. plank thickness is 1 1/4 inch. with this length and board thickness he needs all 6 legs! and wonderful legs they are - as you can see by the pics - very nicely shaped. 6 wheels aid in moving him about. a very large crown type molding adds that extra touch. stands at 30 1/2 inches from floor to top. floor to under apron clears at 23 3/4 inches. he commands attention. he deserves it. think of all the holiday meals and family gatherings he has hosted and would like to host in the future. if you have the perfect spot for this old guy and need a huge table - he is waiting to go home with you. u

he is priceless!! but will sell himself to the right party for 1695.00.

old john deere tractor umbrella

hi: found this gem in nebraska. it's the real thing. it sports a few patches lovingly applied over the decades by the farmer's wive - i imagine. this huge umbrella shaded the farmer as he plowed his fields long before tractors had roofs, much less closed cabs and air conditioning. it has seen many a long hot dusty day and endless acres of land. because of it's condition and just for the fact that it survived at all, makes me think the farmer cherished it and took good care of it. it is made of a very tight weave cotton fabric. couldn't get an exact measurement on the diameter since it was high up but looks to be 4 1/2 to 5 feet at least. all the metal spines are present with lots of strength and "pop up" action. one spine does need to be reset in the round metal center at the top. it will take a couple of pairs of strong hands to pop the eye into the socket. the wood pole is quite thick and well handled. this beauty is a must have for the john deere collector. it is definitely an unusual find.

it resides at:

the unusual find

my goal this year is to acquaint folks with some of the unusual, very large, very special items i have for sale. all are old. all are wonderful. all are one of a kind. i will post pics soon as i can. measurements and descriptions will always be attached. i am just getting this started and learning how - so please be patience should i mess up.

items are located in various stores - country roads antiques and gardens (city of orange), serendipity (temecula), precious times (redlands), and country village antiques (glendora). money will not be exchanged via this venue. all money is paid to the stores. all items can be viewed and picked up at the designated store. addresses/phone numbers will be posted along with each item. each and every store i am in is staffed with fabulous help. you will be pleased.

why a blog? as a junker i know how difficult it is to find that special item. your time is valuable. you can hunt it down here and go directly to where it is at. as a seller, these large items are not easily moved about from store to store/city to city in the hopes of exposing the item to a different group of customers. as a rule everyone has a radius they live, work, and shop in. rarely does anyone drive hours out of their way on a prayer that they will find that odd thing. hopefully, this will assist you and me. nothing small or ordinary will be listed. farm tables, gigantic grain bins, massive hardware store cubby hole units, fabulous iron beds - - - whatever i find and feel is truly special.

so let's get started by posting it. no pics yet. this is just to get acquainted. i have my fingers crossed . . . .
