old store cabinet open top with deep bins painted pine

hi, again:

up for grabs is this wonderful and very useful midwest cupboard/bin combination. all original crackled layers of paint. top coat is white - pumpkin underneath. pumpkin only in the bins and under lids. there is a dab of blue peeking thru in spots. beadboard sheaths the top back. thick plank wood construction. frame is tight. he is solid and heavy.

found him in iowa where he had served as a store display and grain storage cupboard a long, long time ago. potatoes, onions, trash bags, recyclables, or laundry would store easily in his deep, clean bins. just imagine all your laundry collections displayed in the open shelves - elevate the status of your laundry room!!!

he is one-of-a-kind - probably built for the specific store. you will never find another - start measuring that perfect spot:

overall height - 67 inches
width - 72 3/4 inches
top height - 34 inches
bottom height - 33 inches
bin depth - 27 inches
left bin width - 40 3/4 inches
right bin width - 24 inches

1895.00 is what it would take to make him yours.

very reasonalbe for a cupboard like this. you could hop a flight to iowa; rent hotel rooms, a car, and a trailer to bring one back; pay for gas and food; take a couple of weeks out of your life - making your expenses far and beyond the cost of 1895.00. i know - i have done it.

besides he is not in iowa - he is here in california at:

fabulous late 1800's religious cabinet hand painted

it will be hard to put into words the beauty of this cabinet. she is handpainted in greens, reds, and blues. the paint job is incredible. there are doves, hearts, starbursts, pinstriping, and other decorative embellishment. and there are words - in a romantic language, possibly spanish. i got somewhat of a translation from a couple of folks. it says something about children and rising to the heavens.

it is not gaudy by any means - just gorgeous. she is lined in her original fine silky fabric - even her little low shelf. there is a top crown. one large single door gains access to the interior.

she belonged to a collector with exquisite taste for many years. now, she is being released back into the world. she could be yours . . .

her dimensions:
26 inches wide at the base
12 3/4 inches deep at the base
32 1/4 inches tall
7 3/4 inches - height of crown
25 1/2 by 25 1/4 - door dimensions

she is listed at 1095.00 - a bargain.

she is waiting for you at:

if nothing else, you owe it to yourself to pay a visit.
okay, so by now you think i am a major flake since the pics did not materialize. my pc went belly up after the last post. all 4 legs in the air as far as the internet connection goes. and since this is a blog, that pretty much killed the act. this was all due to the air base fiasco. messing with settings is a dangerous affair on a computer.

yesterday, after many hours on the phone with tech support - in india - i was ready to pull my hair out. tonite, as promised, a few pics. she is working now . . . . .

keeping everything crossed till i get thru this.

i am back!

sorry: was out of town for a week. a week away entails a lot of prep work - both at home and at the stores. and the inevitable return with the inevitable catching up.

i did plan to work on this while away. packed up the laptop, the camera (with fresh pics on it) and lots of ideas. got to the air base and tried to plug into civilization. nothing. no matter how and whichever way, nothing. many calls to the numbers listed on the information cards for internet connection helpdesks. nothing. one time i got the "strategic command . . . ." at that point i quit. it was getting way to hairy for me.

so here goes. see the attached pics. info for each will be added . . . . . .

thanks.

1800's massive 6 board grain/storage pine bin

a WONDERFUL handmade TREASURE found in the little town of mayer, arizona. the folks who started the water rights - way back when - in this tiny town had this made. it had always been in the same family till it somehow became the property of the person i bought it from.

we were led to this teeny tiny little antique shop in this teeny tiny little town by a knowing visitor. because it was well hidden, we would have never stumbled upon it. the shop owner was an ex-californian. moved out there to get out of the rat race. he and family were well entrenched in the town now and had even bought the old saloon next door to his shop. we chatted and soon he wanted to show us what he was doing to restore the saloon next door to it's former beauty. as the door unlocked and i gasped at the inside of the old building my sights settled on this massive window seat - or so i thought. upon further inspection it turned out to be a grain bin. 6 boards only, dovetailed and handmade with wood so thick that hinges have been replaced on the lid a time or two. it was not for sale. ouch! after much salivating and pleading and the right amount of money - we carted him away. pleading was not only with the owner but with my brother, nephew and his wife. this bad boy needed every hand on deck to get him on the truck and out of the town. at 11 and 1/2 feet he is heavy. i'd say the wood is about 1" thick. don't have the depth or width on him - sorry - forgot - will get on the next trip to visit him.

got him on the truck. got him back to my nephew's place. and then my brother wanted to unload him, pile in railroad ties and reload him. if all the bickering and quarreling could be included in the asking price of this bin all the money in america would not cover it!! got him back to california. got him unloaded and as we lifted the bin up and out i noticed the untouched bottom plank. it has never been sanded, handled, or waxed. the saw blade marks are like they were just done because the bin sits on little brass feet/knobs like the one used for the pull on the lid. (see pics). getting him into the store took 3 men and me and another round of snarling and cussing. but it was worth all the hissing it took to bring this bin out of seclusion.

he is wonderful to look at, wonderful to hold, and to someone he will be sold. storage is his greatest asset. a functional window seat is another. he is definitely a true hunk of american history.

he is resting quietly at:

he is worth far beyond the price of 3500.00 but that is all you need to make him yours!

stunning 1930-1940's handpainted bed

hi:

it is not my usual look, i agree, but she could not be ignored. once i spotted her, it was a must have.

fabulous beyond comprehension!!!! if i may use the old cliche, "pictures do not do her justice". the intricate flowers on the head and footboard crowns do not display well in the pics - my fault - photography is not my strong suit. but colors are true to photos. she stands proud at 52" - headboard - floor to crown top. footboard stands 28" floor to top of crown. stress cracks run north and south and only add to her charm. head and footboards at their widest point are 62". she is complete with rails, length of which are 78". inside of rails side to side is 61".

if your bedroom is important to you, she will fill it with class and beauty.

she is in transit - my living room will shelter her tonight and tomorrow she will be moved to her temporary residence:

serendipity
41950 main street
old town temecula
temecula, ca 92590

call: 951-506-4446 - there will be someone to answer your call on her behalf.

i say "temporary residence" because at 1950.00 she will be snatched up!! and should you want to own the matching the armoire it resides at:

precious times antique mall and vintage gardens
1740 west redlands blvd
redlands, ca 92373

her mate is big. he had to be delivered to precious times. i cannot move him about.
THE move is over! if you know where i was before in country roads - i am in the same building but closer to the window and IN the window. smaller by far - but we all agree, a whole lot better look.

another move was going on the same week at precious times in redlands. still in the 2 spots front building of the store. just downsized myself out of the back room space.

so with all the hard work now accomplished, i can get back to posting unusual, fabulous stuff for your viewing and shopping enjoyment . . . .
