sorry, everyone, i've been away. upon returning my internet cookie blocker got reset. how? no idea. consequently, not able to publish.

spent some time in minnesota, death in the family. very sad and unexpected. all attention was directed to that. it will linger in my mind/body and soul for a long time. but she would have told me to stop being silly and go on with life. "throw that dead cat in the manure spreader", she would say. so in ruth's honor, the sleeves are rolled up and the tee-shirts are once again spotty.

a big move in on the way. i will be closing out of country village antiques in glendora and moving the vast majority of fabulous primitives to country roads antiques in orange. i will integrate into the spots i presently occupy at country roads and am taking on another spot in building #2. when you enter the 2nd building go to the right and head down the first aisle to the left. to attract attention, a huge something will be on the wall above. it's a small space for now but expansion is possible. you may still find me in the 3rd building - again to the right towards the windows under the huge "san bernardino monumental co" sign and in the window.

hey, check out the window. new look. white, chippy peely, garden-y, romantic, very fabulous stuff. architectural to the max. all old, all wonderful.

take care. and i will keep you posted.

old signs metal signs wood signs set designs

i LOVE signs. have a mad passion for them. the bigger the better. but, i did promise bryce at country roads antiques, that i would banish "the bigger the better" from my vocabulary and shopping. after we (mostly him and a another very kind gentleman) got the san bernardino monumental sign strung up into the rafters, i kinda-sorta-swore that i would not buy another monster sign. i don't believe i had any fingers crossed . . .

all of the signs to the right fit the profile of large, huge, magnificent, superb - i could go on. the colors are true to the pics. the sizes are deceptive via the photos. could not get exact measurements since all of these are now way, way up there. measurements are approx based upon memories of hauling them in my toyota.

the san bernardino sign is wood with a solid wood frame. about 9 to 10 feet long. lettering has a shadow effect. classic style. border in grey and black like the letters. little corner damage.

the geerlings' is about 7 to 8 feet long. metal on a wood frame back. hauled it from iowa. bought it right off the side of this guy's shed/barn. couple of cool old guys - opposites for sure. one was happy and devilish with a live and let live attitude. the other - straighter than any arrow could possibly be.

the barber shop set design is on canvas. 3 parts. 4 by 8 feet each. found this and lion set design in the same barn. a christmas tree farm was being torn down along with all the sheds, barns and buildings. i got a call from the daughter of the owner who wanted some of her father's stuff to live on. this sign has to do with the society of barber shop quartets. cannot remember what all the letters in the center of the sign stand for - she did tell me.

the lion is an odd one - very stunning. 2 pieces - wood. black and silver. large. maybe 4 feet in diameter. the strip of film is about another 4 feet off to the left.

the "cafeteria parking" sign is very, very cool. heavy metal. lip turns outside rather than inside. 8 -10 feet. very striking. you ought to see bryce manuever this one into the rafters! unbelievable. i stood below trying to help while covering my eyes and praying.

they are all displayed and for sale at:
