hi, everyone:
if you haven't given up on me yet/crossed me off your blog list - thank you. my last post was at the end of may. i am not going to apologize - again - instead, i will let you into my life - a bit.
as i visit other blogs of folks -either stranger or friend - i'm beginning to realize blogs might require personal quips from the life of the blogger. reliquishing my passion for annominity, i must let you get to know me - a bit. hopefully, i will not run you off completely.
blogs that describe every second of the blogger's day-to-day routine truly turn me off. those that share precious moments, sad events, joyous news, family photos and tidbits of their life or perspective on it - do suck me in. i hope i will fall into the latter.
when i started this blog i did it with the sole purpose of exposing readers to my truly fabulous finds - treasures for sale. i now realize this is not enough. blog readers want more than that. i confess that many a night i am at my laptop and wanting to write but have not taken a pic of the latest acquistion; the latest hunt; or the latest "day-long" redo of a spot that morphed into a wonderland!! i am deficient in providing photos - IF there are any followers, you would agree. i have never been a shutter bug. never owned a camera until a male friend gave me digital as an xmas present - we are talking about 4-5 years ago. ouch!! for tech buffs it is already an antique. for me, it is still a mysterious creature. with my platform built on only providing items for sale - exposing thoughts, other interests, and ideas, i believed, were not of interest to readers.
with all of the above said, let me begin - let me explain why the lapse in posting:
june 3rd - my sister died. only sister - 4 (3 alive) brothers. she was 54. younger than me. not in the best of health, not in the best of mind - i will not go into the details - none the less, young. expected yet not expected. i am not an extremely religious person but it do believe whoever the supreme being is - and there is one - knew what was best. i and my brother were concerned about my mom. she is 92. my father is 90. this is the 2nd child they have lost. not easy. needless to say, this produced a lot of concern, stress and loss of normal day to day function.
a little later in the month, june brought travel: both to northern california and the annual trip to missouri/iowa. north is always a "tag along carefree" trip and a hunting adventure for treasures. in the past, missouri was also for pleasure and treasure hunting. for the last 4 years -not entirely. a very dear friend lives there. she is almost like a sister. maybe closer. we have been thru so much - good and bad. maybe in later entries some of it will come to light. for starters: like how we became friends. would you believe it was over a quilt top????? it was red and white and she could not decide??? it was an estate sale. i had to get to work, i was already running late, and she was fiddle-farting around with the darned thing??? the wife of some guy (who also became a dear friend) who made lots of money - LOTS!!!!! - and she did not have to work. i tapped her on the shoulder and said "look, i need to get to work. i am late. are you going to buy the quilt top or not?" she launced into a story of how she had a kitchen in red and white and it was perfect but did not know if she could get it backed and quilted. and that she had just moved to california from missouri not long ago and how she didn't know anyone. okay, the question on the table is: "are you going to buy it or not?" she did. she gave me her phone number. we became friends. very, very, very good friends. she had it backed, quilted, and never let me forget it. so, so much has happened since then.
that is a peek into who this blogger is. that i why i disappeared from the internet, AGAIN. my month's activity is not an excuse, just a reason. hope you will stick with me. "i promise" (man, oh, man) there is that phrase again, i will get better.
i will tell you that i did find FABULOUS STUFF this month. some is not yet out in the stores. some was out and has already sold. some is still to be bought in i just did up the front spot at precious times for our "customer appreciation weekend" this past weekend. of course, did not take pics. if it is still intact, i will get pics. OMG, where have you read that before??? but i will.
it is late. tomorrow i have to redo one of my spots at country roads antiques in orange, ca. if you are in the neighborhood, please drop in.
hey, if you do not like the "new me" please feel free to enter a comment on the blog.
thanks,
ginny
