i learned something this morning. most of you may already know . . . but if you click and click on the photos, you can get up-close and detailed on the various items.

a very, cool chippy chest of drawers. original layers of old paint. beigy ivory over light, pale, lime green, with other colors peeking through here and there. unusual style. gauranteed to entice you.

this handsome cubby-hole unit my brother and i hauled back from iowa. don't have the dimensions on me at the moment. he is breath-taking in person. scrubbed clean and waxed, his original black and grey paint add class to his surroundings. heavy, solid, wide and tall - a variety of cubby sizes are systematically placed in numerous rows. extremely practical, he was built for a now defunct iowa hardware store.

yes, you do see a "special" tag on that scrumptious, handpainted bed.

the center of this pics' universe is the drum table. zoom in close for a look-see. she is wonderful, in original, blended layers of paint - goldish green, beige, and creme. nice, hefty size.

the julep soda-fountain drink-maker compliments and adds contrast to the table grouping. she is fabulous. from kansas. you will probably never see another in person. complete except for 2 gasket rings to pad the openings where the bottles of juice would sit upside down. she is worth the trip to temecula just to see her!!

sweet, old display piece. bentwood, bevelled mirrors, and curved glass front door. painted as found. hugh mirror at top. delicate and dainty. great addition to a bedroom or cottage home decor. door locks and key is at desk. if you look closely, you will see 2 bed/boudoir dolls in the middle. one is linen faced and just "to die for". the other is composition. orginal clothing and in excellent condition.

this privacy screen is exceptional!!! probably french per the painted text in the upper left hand corner of the left screen. handpainted. signed. stunning. period-dressed ladies casually posed. pale-color-palet images sure to capture your heart. large, heavy, and able to stand sturdily. this piece deserves a zoom-in.

the coolest ever workbench turned into kitchen isle. sorry, it just went on layaway. but all the fabulous treasures on it are available. lovely, peely white paint, french slat & wire basket. mature-figured old dress form on cage and iron stand, and the chippy white plaster statue center. a huge waterfall vanity mirror is positioned behind it all. gracefullly etched and 3 parts, mounted on it's original back wood frame.

i have time - as noticed by the lengthy picture descriptions and lots of them.

sunday morning and stealing an expression of sue's from country roads - i am going BSC!

now day 10 living with a broken foot. friday before last kicked off my "murphy's law" disaster weekend. dropping the heaviest, largest cupboard i've ever had the now displeasure of owning on my right foot from shoulder height was stupid, careless, and ill-planned.

was going to fill you in on that horrid weekend but it would mimic a depressing, old country song. you know: "the dog died", "the kids are in jail", "the wife left","fired from job", etc.

i will spare you.

instead, i chose to dazzle you with pics from my last redo at serendipity in temecula. finished this just before the foot accident. i had redone country roads as well but - sorry - no pics. forgot. next time.

show pics

pics of the booth at the show. not as good as i thought they would be.

pics - as promised

someone else's mishap stories are always fun. yesterday's post alluded to our pre-3-speckled-hens'-show comedy of errors. i shall elaborate.

thursday of pre-show week, we were excited about getting the trailer to fill with goods. backing it up was challenging but my cohort is somewhat fearless. almost scraped a fender pulling up to one store on the way home - - - that notorious "inch" sure comes in hand when least expected. loaded up a bit there without further incident. got home and the challenges began. it never matters how much room you have it is never the right configuration. aside from many head dings, all got packed.

eager we were upon rising friday - setup day. showers, makeup, food, and coffee brought us to life. just to be safe, a few drops for very dried eyes were plopped in by my friend. neither of us are chemists but we correctly assumed - later proven true - that the reaction of the super-high-powered sunscreen she had applied earlier mixed with the drops were scorching her eyes. it would not abate, the eyelids would not stay open, tears and water were not flushing it out.

panic set in. the show must go on! but how? we waited but to no avail. off to the pharmacy we went. squinting was in overdrive as she inched her vehicle along in front of me. an eye cup and wash were purchased and scurried back to her shop. after lots of flushing, we ventured out into the sunline. yes, it was rude, but i could not help laughing as she plodded along wearing the silliest floppy straw hat i've ever seen.

more to load in her car and as she opened the front passenger side, the glass top from a table rolled out shattering at out feet. cleanup and frustration, we did not need. with only 1 stop to rest the eyes, we made it to the show 45 minutes away.

a very nice rooster belonging to one of the hens backed up her trailer into a front door parking spot. he would back mine, too. i'd manage, up to this point, to park only where i could drive forward since i couldn't see squat with all the merchandise on/in my truck. standing in the street to halt traffic, i wondered why was he taking so long to put reverse into action. well, sardines cannot drive. and this 6' man looked just like one squished in between the wheel and the seat. i had the cab back packed so tight, the seat could not move.

out he pops, putting his empty paper plate and napkin on the back of the truck. in i jump and engage the reverse. with direction, it's a piece of cake, and into the 2nd front door parking spot i slip.

tell my why an empty paper plate w/napkin does not fly/fall off the back of a truck when placed at the same height and on the same surface as a pair of glasses??? it didn't on the 1st but did on the 2nd. squished, flatten, broken, worthless, they were. embarrassed, frustrated, vision challenged, i am escorted to cvs. i am now the proud owner of an ugly, bug-face looking pair of glasses.

got the droid up and running. the promised pics of my loaded truck. later tonite pics of the spot at the show after setup.

murphy's law

murphy's law:

we all know about it.

we all have been governed by it.

this past weekend i could have been it's poster child.

let us leave that alone for this post - and touch upon it later - possibly tomorrow.

the 3-speckled hens show was a relative success - after a few (now funny) mishaps. had a fabulous time with a friend, worked like a dog, made lots of new friends, and came away satisfied. hauled back new treasures. some are available for sale in newly orchestrated re-dos at a couple of my spots - country roads and seredipity.

have pics for you, believe it or not. but this is where murphy's law still has me in it's vicious grip - for me, the weekend continues. i somehow reloaded my droid inadvertedly and partially with i don't know what. all my contacts, albums full of pics and, god knows what else, has vanished. tomorrow, i will be at verzion's mercy.

the adoption fell thru. the birth mom changed her mind. my son and daughter-in-law were heartbroken. there will be another child. things usually work out for the best. fingers everywhere are crossed.

stay tuned. it seems i will be having lotssssssssssssssssss of time on my hands - for a while. where i cheated you in the past on posting updates, i might now make it up to you.
